The Waukesha County Fair is honored to be Wisconsin’s oldest county fair and the county’s biggest event, including barnyard animals, products, recreational activities, and attractions.
The Fair is well-known for its entertainment, rides, special events, animal displays and displays, must-have fair delicacies, and incredible vendor options — both local and international. It is brimming with unique possibilities. With the joined effort of the sponsors and vendors, the Fair continues to pride itself on the positive impact, opportunities, educational aspects, and entertainment provided to residents of Waukesha County and surrounding communities of all ages.
The Waukesha County Fair is steeped in history, tradition, family, recreation, education, and agriculture. As the state’s oldest county fair and the biggest annual event in Waukesha County, it is thrilled to welcome approximately 120,000 fairgoers over the course of five short days in July.
The first edition of the Waukesha County Fair was held in 1842 on Carroll Street in Prairieville amid a poplar grove. It was a grand celebration of the Fourth of July, replete with fireworks and a festive meal. A plowing contest between farmers was one of the day’s attractions.
Over the following years, multiple relocations and name changes occurred. In 1960, the Fair had renamed the Waukesha County Fair and relocated to Wales Village Park. The Fair relocated to its current home at the Waukesha Exposition Center in 1966. This year marks the Fair’s 179th year.
Since February 1, 1994, the Waukesha County Fair has been a Waukesha County Business Alliance member, the IAFE, and the Wisconsin Association of Fairs.
The 179th Waukesha County Fair is set for July 21st – 25th at the Waukesha County Expo Grounds. The Fair is open from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm on Wednesdays, 10:00 am to midnight on Thursdays to Saturdays, and 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sundays.
Health and safety measures are being closely reviewed to guarantee that the Fair’s valued fairgoers, vendors, volunteers, employees, and partners, among others, enjoy a safe, family-friendly event this summer.
